Morning Fuel Before School

It’s that time of year again! Kids are heading back to school! Starting the the day with a balanced breakfast can help to fuel your children with the energy they need to stay focussed at school. A balanced breakfast includes foods from at least three of the four food groups in Canada’s food Guide.

How to get your children to eat breakfast
- Have them help prepare breakfast for the whole family – your kids will love the opportunity to do something for you. Start off simple and get more advanced as they learn their way through the kitchen.
- use fun plates and cups to get them excited about their food
- use a cookie cutter to create fun shapes with their food (works really well with sandwiches)
- Make sure to eat breakfast yourself – modelling healthy eating habits will help children adopt healthy behaviours in their adult lives.
